I just couldn't stand looking at the red anymore. I do believe I was a bit premature in putting up the Valentines set! Next holiday I'll wait just a wee bit longer. LOL Yeah, right!
Titan died. Two or three days after I posted his picture in fact! I was a bit sad. I mean, yeah, it is just a mindless fish, but he was my mindless fish and I had him for a long time! Not that I collapsed in a pool of tears now! Actually it was kinda gross. He was laying on his back in the bottom corner of the tank and the other fish were nipping at his tail and fins. The poor thing was still alive too! Just barely moving his gills. I had Joe take him out of the tank and put him out of his misery. From the shape of him I figure they must have been torturing him for the better part of the day.
Wow! Did I mess up my hair! LOL You know how I usually dye it dark burgundy or chocolate cherry? Well, I was feeling particularly miserly a short while back ago. While I was out doing my weekly shopping I spotted hair dye on sale. It was a different brand of hair dye than I usually buy, but it was on sale! At no point did my brain progress past that thought. If I bought this now, then I could save myself some money. I needed to dye my hair anyway. They didn't have the same shades as I always get, (an unmistakable warning there eh?) , but rather than get over it, pay the three extra dollars and buy the right kind I settled for a medium auburn. Have I set the stage here?
(Fast forward about two weeks.)
I am no longer feeling quite as scroogey as I was, the neon sale sign is no longer in sight, and I am taking that same box of hair dye out the linen closet. Rational thought has returned and I'm not happy with what I see. I have gone beyond the point where I may be able to pull off another week without dying my hair. It's getting late, I have work tomorrow, and I'm out of options. I trudge down the hallway towards the bathroom, box in hand with the air of a condemned man going to the electric chair. As I start dumping the goop on my head (cringing at the smell), I think, "Well gee, how bad can it be? I mean, I've had medium auburn hair before. It wasn't so bad. It was just a little lighter than it usually is." By the time I cleaned up the mess and sat down to wait I was feeling alot more optimistic about the whole thing.
Do you know what happens when you put lighter hair dye over a darker shade? Oh, and leave it on for 60 minutes instead of the recommended 25 because you are reading and totally lose track of time? I do. The bulk of your hair stays the same color as it was because that was already dyed a darker color. The fun starts when you realize that the inch and a half of regrowth that you had has been turned a gorgeous shade of light auburn! If you think it looks bad when it's wet, ... just wait until it dries. Quite striking if I must say so myself! LOL Needless to say I'll be picking up a box of hair dye tomorrow and utilizing it!
